TIPS FOR RIDING IN THE SNOWY MOUNTAINS

Local cyclists have worked really hard to establish a good relationship with motorists on our narrow roads.

So, if you're heading to Jindabyne with a large group of cyclists, please keep the following in mind:

Share the road - the mountain roads are relatively narrow with minimal shoulder.  When riding beside double lines, please revert to single file rather than taking up the entire lane.

Remember two abreast at best - please adhere to 2 riders abreast with a maximum of 1.5m between.  Please give motorists the best opportunity to overtake whilst showing respect for other road users.

Have a rear red light on your bike to improve your visibility on the roads.

Always take plenty of water - you can travel more than 50km without a service station or water supply.

Check the mountain weather forecast before you go - conditions can be dramatically different near the peaks compared to those in Jindabyne.
